Read this communication before applying!

Do not submit an application until you first obtain your Ohio
Class “A” Commercial Learner’s Permit (CLP) by successfully passing
a written examination at an Ohio BMV Driver Exam Station
(see further information below).

Please note that obtaining your CLP does not guarantee your

selection in the Roads2Work-Franklin County program.

Once You Have Obtained
Your Learner’s Permit

Once you have obtained your commercial learner’s permit (CLP), please complete your online application at www.roads2work.com.  Once we receive your completed application, a Roads2Work team member will review your submission.  Applications will be reviewed in the order they are received. Due
to the large number of applications and interest in the program, it may be some time before your application is reviewed.  If you meet the initial screening criteria, you will receive a call from Ms. Roxanne Price, at (614) 258-0400 ext. 108, to schedule your Roads2Work-Franklin County interview.

Commercial Learner’s Permit (CLP)

To move forward with your Roads2Work-Franklin County application, you must first obtain your State of Ohio Class “A” Commercial Learner’s Permit (CLP).  To obtain your permit, you must go to a Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) Exam Station (see locations below) and successfully pass all three (3) components of the written Class “A” CLP examination, including: (1) general knowledge, (2) air brakes, and (3) combination vehicles.

Where to Take Your CLP Written Exam?

You can take the State of Ohio CLP written examination at one of the following BMV locations:

1583 Alum Creek Drive

Columbus, OH 43209

(614) 443-5100

990 Morse Road, Suite A

Columbus, OH 43229

(614) 781-0060

4740 Cemetery Road

Hilliard, OH 43026

(614) 529-1203

Please note there is no testing on Sunday’s or Monday’s.  There is no fee to
take the exam, and you may continue to take the exam components until you pass
all three, but you are limited to taking each part once per day.  Upon successful completion of all three (3) components of the written exam, you will need to pay $28.50 to obtain your CLP license.  The CLP license is valid for one (1) year from the date of issuance. The CLP license allows you to operate a commercial vehicle while under the guidance of a licensed CDL Instructor.
